Biography
Originally from Montreal, Carole currently lives in Ottawa. She has enjoyed nearly forty years of being actively involved in the field of education having started her career as a senior high school History and English teacher in the Montreal area. After several years working with students at high risk across a spectrum of disciplines and ages, she instituted and coordinated the first Alternative Program within the Western Quebec School Board. Subsequently, she assumed a variety of administrative roles within the Board, first as a Vice-Principal of its large regional high school and then as an elementary school Principal. Prior to retirement she held the position of Director of Education/Complementary Services - a fulfilling position which involved developing professional development for teachers; assessing student needs; securing and distributing funding for students-at risk; coordinating the establishment of suitable programming; coordinating teams of school professionals within the Student Services Department and directing the Literacy Initiatives for the Board over a five year period. At the provincial level she held the position of Chair of the Administrators of Complementary Services Committee (ACES) which comprised of the Directors of Complementary Services for the nine English language school boards throughout Quebec. Upon retirement the Association of Administrators of English Schools of Quebec presented her with the 2009 Award of Merit. She continues to fuel her passion for teaching and learning through volunteer work with local in-school literacy programs and enjoys the role of Practicum Supervisor for the Bachelor of Education Program at Bishop’s University, in Lennnoxville, Quebec. Carole holds a B.Ed from McGill University and an M.Ed in Educational Administration from The University of Ottawa.
